Mindfulness-Based Life Coaching...

Mindfulness-Based Life Coaching is an approach to life coaching for those who have broader priorities than the striving for more and more material success. Ideally, but not exclusively, for those who have attended an initial eight week course, Mindfulness-Based Life Coaching can be conducted entirely over the telephone.

Mindfulness-Based Life Coaching is a psycho-educational and medititive approach integrating the insights of the Japanese psychotherapies of Morita and Naikan (popularised in the US by Dr David Reynolds as ‘Constructive Living’) and the Western approaches of Jon Kabbatt-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction programme and its development in this country into Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

The cultivation of mindfulness – an intentional, focused awareness – is a way of paying attention on purpose in the present moment, non-judgmentally. Two decades of published research indicate that most people who practise techniques of mindfulness have:

• Lasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms
• An increased ability to relax
• Reduced pain levels and an improved ability to cope with pain that will not go away.
• Greater energy and enthusiasm for life
• Improved self esteem
• An ability to cope more effectively with stressful situations in the short and long term.
